Denmead 10k Road Race

My first official race as a Denmead Strider and on home turf too! This turned out to be a great run for me and a nice prep-run for the Great South in a weeks time.

I got a lift to the event with Rochann, who was just going to stay until the start as was taking Aaron down to football, and I would make my way home later after the run. I wasn’t as nervous as I usually am with race day events, even though this was my first official outing in Striders race colours!

Some pictures from the event as well

GPS says I did the 10k in 47:52, will have to wait and see what the official race time says. Enjoyed that though, a nice undulating course through the countryside.

As Rochann had gone off with the kids to football I had to make my own way home, so I ran! This made me laugh as I had a couple of comments on my way back, including a ‘You’re going the wrong way!!!’ shouted at me by a passing car. I was still wearing my race number and kit so I had to chuckle to myself about that! Considering I’d set a PB for 10k I was happy with the run back as well!

The run home

Edit: Official race time 48:40 (not chip timed). I came 82nd out of 200 runners and 27th in my age group.
