Santa Fun Run 2012

What a hilarious morning I’ve had participating in the RNLI Santa Fun Run this morning. Basically the event consists of 1000+ runners dressing up as Santa and running either 5k or 10k along the seafront to raise money for the RNLI. I said I’d enter this along with a friend of mine, Sara, just for a giggle and to run with her in her first race. This was decided over lunch about an hour after I had completed this years Great South Run and the entries went in that evening.

The packs arrived with the race numbers, hers 440 and mine 442, along with instructions on picking up costumes from Alexandra Sports in Portsmouth. I picked mine up, tried it on and then thought nothing more of it, well not until my bright green Brooks Pure Cadence running shoes landed on my doorstep.

I joked about them clashing with my Santa suit and the seed was sown for dressing up as another character, a character who wears part of a Santa suit and is green. A character who isn’t partial to Christmas? Yes Michael, on that morning I will become The Grinch!!!

A set of size 14 green leggings and some face paints were duly ordered up and some googling was done to try figure out how to do the make up and fully Grinch me up for the run!
